I Understood

Midnight waves. Dark Sky. A brother who wonโ€™t explain, a destination that feels deliberately hidden, and the growing sense that this isnโ€™t an adventure. The lighthouse waits in the dark, in the middle of nowhere. This story by Ishita Sahai sits in the uneasy space between childhood and awareness. This is a story about being dragged out of bed with five minutesโ€™ notice, told to pack only what matters, and asked to trust without understanding. About a place meant to keep you safe, and the feeling that safety has a deadline. Not every hero announces themselves. Some stand guard in silence, carry secrets they were never meant to hold, and make impossible choices so others never have to. This is a story about that kind of love, the kind you only understand once itโ€™s gone.

The Toxicity

"Behind the facade of excitement and anticipation lies the bitter truth of toxicity." Excitement and anxiety intertwine as we step into college, a new chapter of our lives. But this sense of euphoria soon vanishes when we are faced with the toxicity present in it. It is heartbreaking to witness people participating in the toxic culture of hurling derogative slurs or embarrassing others for things they have no control over. These remarks sometimes leave scars that last a lifetime. Here, we present a heart-wrenching writeup, 'The Toxicity'. It aptly portrays the emotion of feeling trapped in a cycle of toxicity in college, something we might all relate to.

Loving myself a little more everyday

Beauty starts to appear the moment people decide to accept their true selves. One could have achieved the peak of perfection, and still work in order to grow at the same time. Happiness is attained when you learn to accept yourself as you are, and identify your intrinsic beauty. The satisfaction of being your true self is more important and essential than worldly acceptance.

EOS XIV: A Nostalgic Train of Youthful Ecstasy and Recollections

Human beings are social animals and by virtue of this, we yearn to interact and learn from experiences of each other. It is a well-recognised fact that college fests are the best platform where students can embellish their network chains with inter-college students and faculty members. The enthusiasm and festive spirit act as a catalyst in overpowering the otherwise monotonous college life cycle of eat-sleep-lectures-repeat.ย  The much-awaited literary fest- 'EOS XIV', organised on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of March 2022 was that catalyst for the students of RMLNLU. This piece provides a glimpse into the fun and engaging amalgamation of events organised by the Journal Committee for the year 2022!

Itโ€™s all grey.

"Grey is the colour...the most important of all... absent of opinion, nothing, neither/nor." Morally ambiguous and impartial, grey symbolises complexityโ€“everything that falls in between absolutes. People often tend to blanket themselves with people of similar opinions and ideologies. This piece sheds light on the thought processes of people that have started to revolve around singular level logic of good and bad, where they donโ€™t take into account the grey areas.

I hope ‘it’ does not count

The unhealed wounds and negative patterns of childhood often manifest as emotional conflicts and unexplained pains in adulthood. This piece is woven around the spectrum of emotions or thoughts resulting from such wounds and the way they sway one's life for a long time.

My Coming Out Story (Part 2)

Here's the second part of the beautiful 'My Coming Out Story', an account of how one might feel like the stars are conspiring against them. The dilemma, the second-thoughts, the guilt-ridden self....when all of these emotions fade out, that's when everything starts falling in place.

The Perfect Tale

"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies" 'The Perfect Tale', a satirical comedy by 'Persistent Ranter', addresses the old-as-time narrative of communal coexistence. The piece seamlessly dives into the changed discourse of religious harmony while taking a jab at the political masters.

My Coming Out Story (Part 1)

Pride month might be over but celebrating Pride is not limited to a month! Here's an account of discovering oneself and the plethora of emotions that follow. Coming to terms with one's identity entails extreme courage and a lots of ifs and buts. We applaud everyone who have embraced themselves and those who haven't, take your time!

A Letter to George Orwell

This letter by Sarthak Chaudhary talks about the dystopic reality of today's world along with a reassuring thread of hope, in consonance with '1984', a masterpiece by George Orwell. This 'letter' to Orwell, on his 118th birth anniversary, not only highlights the nuances used in the book that still stand true today but also that undying resilience which allows one to stay sane.

Mommy/Daddy Issues and Sitcoms

Strained family dynamic is a sensitive issue. It is remarkable how beautifully directors incorporate it into a character and able to generate humor around it without jeopardizing the sensitivity. This enthralling piece, by Harsh Agrawal, highlights the common set of dynamics exhibited by sitcom characters, focusing primarily upon the portrayal of sensitive nuances emerging out of a strained parent-child relationship.

THERE IS A LOT IN A NAME, SHAKESPEARE!ย

-Priyanshi Bhageria Over 400 years ago, William Shakespeare had asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s in a name?โ€. Today, I think I can answer this question.ย  I agree when you say that the Feminist movement has achieved a lot, but it should also be accepted, that there are a million other things that need to be reformed to free...
