Why do People Colour Their Hair?

Back in school, dyed hair was a means to bring about penalties from teachers and disapproval from parents, but skip to college and many among us have rather chosen to express themselves by flaunting their favorite hues in their hair. Regardless of the popular opinion attached to those with dyed hair being rebellious and facetious, we see quite a few of our batch mates here at RML rocking a 'poppy' hair colour all the while excelling academically, socially, and professionally. This piece by Aditi Singh discusses how dying one's hair is a way of life for many people, sometimes for creative reasons and sometimes as a method of coping. It provides us a glimpse into the hidden emotions, feelings, and motives of the ones who choose to flaunt dyed hair.

EOS XIV: A Nostalgic Train of Youthful Ecstasy and Recollections

Human beings are social animals and by virtue of this, we yearn to interact and learn from experiences of each other. It is a well-recognised fact that college fests are the best platform where students can embellish their network chains with inter-college students and faculty members. The enthusiasm and festive spirit act as a catalyst in overpowering the otherwise monotonous college life cycle of eat-sleep-lectures-repeat.ย  The much-awaited literary fest- 'EOS XIV', organised on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of March 2022 was that catalyst for the students of RMLNLU. This piece provides a glimpse into the fun and engaging amalgamation of events organised by the Journal Committee for the year 2022!

Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring The words ring of truth as travelling brings fulfilment, peace, adventure, growth and happiness to our otherwise monotonous lives. This piece by Shalini Singh provides us with a roadmap to discover Nainital, a glittering jewel in the Himalayan necklace which is blessed with scenic natural splendour. The author has described their experience of travelling to the Lake City of India that left them with not only a store full of memories to be cherished for a lifetime, but also a chance at self-fulfilment and personal growth.

A WALK BACK IN TIME

Childhood memories don't fade easily, and it's true that most of us long to go back to the good old days. The long sunny days of carefree running, letting our imaginations run wild, indulging in petty fights and making up just as quickly, all of these are sweet memories that stay with us for a lifetime. In this piece, Shreya Shekhar, a first-year student, has lucidly portrayed how childhood, a golden period in life of enjoying the most insignificant of things with great joy, ends up becoming just cherished memories as the tides of time bring about inevitable changes and growth within each of us.

This poem by Shreya Shekhar, revolves around not only one of the most common words being used since the last two years, but also the feeling that has resided within most of us for a long time. Showing itself through a sudden quickening of the heart, a hollowed feeling and an internal screaming, the doubts of an uncertain future reflect in our daily actions.This piece paints a vivid picture of the multi-faceted yet subtle ways of how uncertainty impacts us, especially in these times of unpredictability and unpreparedness.

I am not a scientist

This piece describes love, having its subtle beginnings from a fluttering of wings inside the stomach, growing into something deeper and stronger. This nuanced, layered and multi-faceted nature of love is what enhances the beauty of it. This poem is a beautiful tapestry of idioms and analogies bravely highlighting the complexities of love.

Phases and emotions of life neither have stipulated slots of time nor are they independent of each other. Harshita Sonkar, through this beautiful poem sheds light upon the whimsical nature of life with the help of pretty metaphors.
